Job Description

As the Director, Talent Strategy, you will be accountable for developing Indigo’s end-to-end talent management strategy to strengthen organizational capability and support the achievement of overall business goals and initiatives. This includes leading the team in the development of tools, and programs in the areas of leadership development and training, organizational design and effectiveness, performance management, and succession planning in order to attract, engage, retain and support Indigo’s desired talent and culture.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Define, develop and implement the talent management strategies, programs and processes to support organizational goals and initiatives 
  • Proactively review all talent programs and resources against future business needs and external conditions.  Identify gaps, assess risk and recommend solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve high performance, operational excellence and business growth 
  • Support Indigo goals by executing on short to mid-term departmental goals 
  • Maintain a high level of strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs, and adjusting departmental and team objectives accordingly
  • Successfully identify and address gaps in organizational competency, knowledge, and skillsets based on Indigo’s business objectives and future talent needs
  • Design and deliver relevant talent management strategies, tools and programs (in partnership with the business partner teams) to deliver on desired outcomes
  • Play a key role in improving performance by developing organization wide performance management programs and customized organization effectiveness strategies.
  • Further develop the human capital of the organization through career-path planning, training and developmental programs that prepare individuals to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of a succession planning strategy and the development of high-potential leaders.
  • Work across the organization to empower leaders and teams through OD/OE processes, while enhancing employee engagement
  • Lead cross functional project teams to help shape and implement organizational initiatives 
  • Influence across organization and at all levels to identify and leverage opportunities to optimize employee and customer experience
  • Leverage talent insights and trends to drive people, operational and change management practices 
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them
  • Set/adhere to team budgets, as applicable
  • Provide authentic feedback on performance and potential
  • Build strong teams by attracting and developing the best talent
  • Ensure all team members understand where they stand and have clear performance objectives aligned with Indigo and department goals
  • Accountable for the overall engagement, productivity, turnover and bench strength of the team
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of a talent succession plan
  • Collaborate with others to drive flexible and iterative solutions, quickly and easily
  • Share technical knowledge with others and actively seek to learn from those more knowledgeable than yourself
  • Help others see the impacts of their efforts and proactively engage other functions to get input
  • Encourage others to freely share their point of view and be open to feedback

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Post-secondary degree required
  • Master’s degree, considered an asset
  • 10+ years progressive HR/OD/talent management experience – including leadership experience in retail
  • Deep talent management and strategy expertise including organizational design / organizational effectiveness, leadership development and training, performance management, succession planning, coaching and change management
  • Experience managing people and driving transformation and change
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects
  • Proven track record in the integration of change management and development of learning across various organizational stakeholders
  • Strong leader – demonstrated ability to lead and drive change
  • Big picture thinker, but able to take concepts into execution
  • Is connected, networked and collaborative
  • Ability to establish credibility, rapport and influence with cross-functional peers/superiors and become a “trusted advisor”
  • Strong ability to influence across all levels of leadership and make decisions once partnerships have been taken and all sides considered
  • Recognize where to go to get things done and when to involve others outside of one’s function. The ability to see the total organization with an integrated perspective.
  • Solid organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting quickly to shifting priorities
  • Respectfully challenge perceived wisdom and propose new ideas that may contribute to better strategic decisions
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written  
  • Take an active role in fostering a culture of continual learning, taking risks without the fear of making mistakes
  • Embrace, champion and influence change through your team and/or the organization
  • Strong thought leadership, business acumen, and leadership skills
  • Possess a natural connection to and an understanding of people processes and connection to culture
  • Travel as required
