Job Description

The Vice President, Finance is a strategic finance leader who thinks broadly, providing financial leadership, expertise, and advice. This role will lead the Reporting, Control and Finance Business Partner functions, working cross-functionally to drive strategies and improve business. With a mandate to drive profitability, the VP, Finance will provide leadership on a range of initiatives from commercial to complex business process redesign opportunities.


  • Support the CFO in shaping strategies, drive results, challenge and improve, lead innovation, and inspire and influence
  • Set and maintain a 3-year strategic financial plan in support of the Indigo strategy in alignment with the CFO, CEO, Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee
  • Set the overall functional strategy in support of the Indigo strategy by developing long-term departmental plans (3-5 years).
  • Maintain a high level of strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs, and adjusting departmental and team objectives accordingly
  • Improve and drive business outcomes by helping develop and evaluate business cases
  • Oversee transformation and re-design of financial processes and systems to deliver the Finance function more efficiently
  • Provides overall leadership of the Finance function including Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Reporting, Taxation and Internal Audit teams
  • Establishes metrics and monitoring systems to maintain accountability, manage risks and achieve objectives
  • Leverages and augments existing systems to provide accurate, reliable, and meaningful reporting, analysis and insight to meet the complex needs of internal and external stakeholders.  Identify gaps in capability and implement solutions that improve functionality and efficiency. 
  • Defines and executes against the main priorities of the Treasury function; cash management, foreign exchange, hedging and capital structure/raisings
  • Capable of navigating ambiguity in decision-making involving complex issues across multiple stakeholders
  • Understand the impact to Indigo of changing external environmental factors (competitive, regulatory, technical, etc.)
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high-tech and high-touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them
  • Build strong teams by attracting and developing the best talent
  • Bring out the best in others, empower and constructively stretch talent

  • ​​​​​​Proven track record of achievement in a senior financial role, with retail expertise being a significant asset.
  • Ability to effectively interface with top-level executives, service providers and other stakeholders
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA is preferred
  • CPA Designation is preferred
  • Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment across a broad spectrum of business matters
  • A motivational leader with excellent organizational, interpersonal, consultative and negotiating skills
  • Strong people leader with an ability to establish credibility quickly, as well as build and foster relationships with cross-functional and external partners
  • Ability to influence decisions at the executive level and contribute to the company’s strategy and growth
  • Strong track record of leading the identification and execution of new initiatives to drive businesses, embracing change and innovation
  • Strong financial management and business analysis capabilities with evidence of success in financial planning, budgeting, project management, business case development and financial analysis
  • Forward-thinking approach; focuses on objectives with a sense of urgency and dedication to continuous improvement
  • Strong attention to detail and particularly to the key performance metrics of an organization
  • Strong technical competence in reporting, accounting and controls, knowledge of SAP and Business Intelligence systems and processes are highly valuable assets
  • Data-driven and solutions-oriented
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting to changing priorities
  • Ability to make decisions with a proven ability to synthesize data from multiple sources and build compelling business cases using assumptions and estimates
  • Ability to prioritize and address the biggest issues first (and to sacrifice secondary issues when necessary)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment and possess tenacity, drive and vision
