Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, the Internal Auditor will be responsible for assessing the design and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting to support the annual CEO/CFO certification. This role will also perform risk assessments for finance and operational strategic initiatives and project risk assessments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Assist in the risk assessment process and development of the continuous auditing cycle
  • Observe and understand business processes under area of responsibility to ensure they are documented completely and accurately by process owners and to ensure relevant controls are adequately designed to mitigate risks
  • Assist in developing audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives
  • Perform detailed audit procedures/tests, including conducting interviews, observing operations, perform analytical procedures, reviewing transactions, documents, records, reports, and policies and procedures
  • Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and risk
  • Obtain and review evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented
  • Summarize and report on audit findings, providing actionable recommendations and suggestions to improve and remediate deficiencies
  • Assist in the drafting of reports to the Audit Committee, Senior Management and/or CFO
  • Liaise and interact with various business stakeholders across the organization and seek opportunities for operational improvement and efficiency
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues, and working to resolve them

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in internal or external audit roles
  • Professional accounting or auditing designation (CPA, CIA)
  • Experience with process documentation, risk assessment and controls (Bill 198 / SOX)
  • Experience working with ITGCs
  • Proactive and able to take initiative in researching business best practice concepts
  • Strong organization and follow up skills
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Solid understanding of COSO framework
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Experience working with IFRS, SAP and GRS Resolver audit management system an asset
