Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial accounting support to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. A key support to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, this role is responsible for assisting in the modernization of current processes, including championing and assisting in the implementation of continuous improvement and automation projects supporting the strategic growth of the business. This position will also be responsible for reviewing the reconciliations of the A/P and A/R general ledger accounts and accruals. Within Finance, this role is a key business partner who collaborates with the procurement and product operations teams to ensure an exceptional vendor experience.

  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes on a regular basis and identify areas for process improvements and modernization
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting and Manager, Accounts Payable, identify, champion, and assist in the implementation of continuous improvement projects to better position the department for the strategic growth of the business
  • Partner with procurement, product operations, corporate sales, and receiving teams to identify and solve vendor and customer issues in a timely basis
  • Assist in the review and analysis of the goods receiving reconciliation process to ensure issues are quickly identified and escalated and accounted for properly under IFRS
  • Review and/or prepare month end reconciliations of accounts payable and accounts receivable general ledger accounts including accruals and provide commentary analysis to ensure accounting is consistent with IFRS
  • Prepare quarterly and annual note disclosures relating to accounts payable and receivables
  • Act as a department lead on automation projects affecting the department
  • Assist the Manager, Accounts Payable with reviewing vendor reconciliations on a semi-annual and annual basis
  • Assist with the action plan to resolve problematic vendor reconciliations
  • Challenge the status quo and consistently identify areas for improvement, diagnose issue sand work to resolve them
  • Participate in analysis and results discussions on a period basis
  • Ad-hoc requests and projects as assigned
  • Collaborate with others to drive flexible and iterative solutions, quickly and easily
  • Share technical knowledge with others and actively seek to learn from those more knowledgeable than yourself

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE: 

  • CPA designation
  • 3+ years of experience in role with comparable scope
  • Experience driving forward process or system improvements
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, multi-task and complete projects on time
  • Strong thought leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to implement process and system improvements that will align the accounts payable team and the Company for success
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • SAP experience an asset
