Job Description

The Mobile Developer is responsible for building new mobile experiences that reach millions of Canadian shoppers and internal customers. The role builds iOS and Android applications for both customers and Indigo’s stores.  As a key member of an agile team, the Mobile Developer works together with other developers, QA, SRE, Product Design and Product Managers to realize mobile app features from concept through to launch. 


  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust mobile applications with a strong focus on customer value and satisfaction 
  • Support the Product Manager with decomposing customer needs into incrementally releasable user stories 
  • Recommend alternative technical approaches that meets the needs of the customer 
  • Provide user story estimates based on technical knowledge and experience 
  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure proper coding and security practices 
  • Work with QA team to ensure robust automated testing of code 
  • Develop an understanding of the Indigo technology stack and where Indigo’s mobile applications can leverage common components 
  • Monitoring systems and pro-actively resolving issues 
  • Understand and keep abreast of current technology 
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes 
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs 
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers 
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them 
  • Collaborate with others to drive flexible and iterative solutions, quickly and easily

  • Degree in computer science, other related diploma or equivalent experience 
  • 3+ years of software development experience 
  • 1+ years of experience focused on cross-platform mobile applications development 
  • Proficient working experience with iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) and/or React Native 
  • Experience with web back-end programming as asset: Java, .NET, SQL 
  • Comfortable with Git and issue tracking (Jira) 
  • Experience with consuming RESTful APIs (HTTP, JSON) 
  • Experience working with Firebase, crash analytics, and push notification frameworks (Urban Airship) an asset 
  • Knowledge of Appium testing framework 
  • Solid understanding of Dependency Injection principles 
  • Experience with MVVM design pattern 
  • Integration with external hardware (printers, scanners, etc.) 
  • Working experience on Continuous Integration. XCode Server is an asset 
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (XCTest, JUnit) and implementing unit tests 
  • Nice to have: Experience with front end web application development (JavaScript, React) 
  • Nice to have: Experience working with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) 
  • Solid knowledge and experience with Cocoa Touch framework 
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum process framework 
  • Detail oriented, with an ability to work in a dynamic environment while maintaining high internet security and development best practices 
  • Strong communication skills with a strong analytical and problem-solving approach
