Job Description

The Manager, Thoughtfull Curation is accountable for creating and implementing the vision, strategy and direction for their portfolio to support the Thoughtfull Marketplace. The role of the Manager is to expand Indigo’s existing assortment by sourcing new product and introducing new product categories. Their unique perspective of the Gifting market will fuel a highly differentiated product assortment that will enable national growth.  



  • Set strategic plans for the Gifting Platform that align with total Gifting strategic plans 
  • Collaborate with Product Management & Product Marketing Teams to develop marketing strategies that align with assortment strategies 


  • Lead the development of the assortment to support the Thoughtfull Marketplace 
  • Develop partnerships and source product from a range of sellers based on strong customer insights and market research Meets Sales, Margin and Turn Goals set in collaboration with the Head of Thoughtfull 
  • Lead key negotiations with Sellers to gain best possible terms of engagement 
  • Develop go-to-market plans for all product launches, establishing a rigorous calendar of new brands to ensure newness is consistently introduced to the Thoughtfull Marketplace  
  • Manage Gifting “giftlists” through effective understanding of customer consumption patterns, market trends and product launches 
  • Lead the development of Merchandising Plans that are consistent with overall merchandising calendar 
  • Conduct Financial Analysis to recommend action to maximize sales and profit 
  • Provide ongoing analysis and reporting to evaluate product, brand and “giftlist” performance  
  • Collaborate with Operations Teams to ensure Sellers meet brand requirements 
  • Lead Quarterly assortment reviews 
  • Ensure the implementation and compliance of operating standards and practices across entire line of business 
  • Stay ahead of market trends, bring fresh ideas for product launches and brand partnerships to the broader team 
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs 
  • Set/adhere to team budgets, as applicable 
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making processes 
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers 
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs 
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

  • University Degree an asset 
  • Experience in Retail Industry, Gifting, E-Commerce preferred  
  • Minimum 6 years experience in retailing, product development, category management, or brand development  
  • Proven ability to build productive business relationships with both internal and external partners 
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively with external business partners 
  • Proven ability to establish vision and set direction for a team 
  • Proven ability to lead a team through change 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting quickly to shifting priorities 
  • Outstanding communication skills 
  • Passionate for the category 
  • 25% Travel for Trade Shows, Store Visits & Competitive Shopping 
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid drivers license an asset
