Job Description

The Total Rewards Analyst will be responsible for researching, analyzing, evaluating and administering all of the company’s Total Rewards programs – including compensation, benefits, retirement, and other monetary and non-monetary rewards and recognition programs. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, the incumbent will also assess the market, internal conditions and government regulations to ensure overall programs are current, competitive and motivate employees. 


  • Perform analytical duties in a variety of compensation areas, including internal and external equity differentials, competitive pay practices; recommend policy and/or program changes 
  • Participate in the development, design and maintenance of the job evaluation process, including conducting job evaluations and providing recommendations to HR 
  • Develop and prepare various standard and custom reports as inputs into business decisions 
  • Administer compensation programs and policies as assigned 
  • Participate in compensation surveys that support the ongoing development of compensation programs; analyze results, interpret salary data, and develop recommendations to maintain market competitiveness 
  • Support the preparation of the Pay Equity Program, analysis, reports and communications 
  • Assess risks associated with Total Rewards policies, processes and programs by working with business groups to develop and implement solutions to mitigate/eliminate risk 
  • Identify and bring forward Total Rewards policy, process and program opportunities  
  • Provide advice and counsel in the area of Total Rewards with a view to optimization of business results, profitability and mitigation of risk 
  • Provide consistency of Total Rewards approach across all areas of Indigo operating units, as is appropriate 
  • Ensure Indigo’s adherence to applicable laws and regulations in policies, processes and programs 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of employment legislation influencing compensation and benefits 
  • Perform other duties as required, including the preparation of ad hoc reports, dashboards and presentations  
  • Ensure Total Rewards programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs 
  • Advise, counsel and educate HR colleagues on Indigo’s Total Rewards policies, processes and programs    
  • Work in a collaborative and constructive manner with team and cross functional partners 
  • Participate in the operational governance processes related to Total Rewards 
  • Model Indigo’s beliefs and convey a positive image in everything you do

  • Minimum 3+ years of Total Rewards experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field 
  • CHRP designation preferred (completed or in progress) 
  • Retail experience is an asset 
  • Strong experience working with Total Rewards policies, salary surveys, job evaluations and pay equity 
  • Demonstrated experience with bonus/incentive plans (as well as implementation and execution), along with benefits and retirement plan administration 
  • Demonstrated experience with understanding compensation principles and practices 
  • Effective communication skills, including excellent written, oral and presentation abilities  
  • Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to adhere to schedules and manage processes; the ability to organize and prioritize work to manage timelines and to meet defined deadlines in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Strong analytical skills  
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office products, with a focus on Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Understanding of the Pay Equity Act, Pay Transparency, Employment Standards Act, and other related legislation 
  • Customer focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time while delivering results 
  • Experience using People Management Software (HCM or Ultimate Software an asset) 
  • Occasional travel may be required
