Job Description


The Social Media Editor is responsible for the execution, monitoring and growth of a group of Indigo social channels, including but not limited to Instagram/Instagram Stories, and Pinterest. This role develops enticing editorial copy that aligns with the overall brand engagement, as well as creative, marketing and merchant strategies. 

  • Responsible for the development, execution, and management of social channels, including Instagram/Instagram Stories, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook 
  • Write compelling editorial copy for social media content, and collaborate with editorial team on blog posts, and select Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube storytelling 
  • Map out the monthly cadence of each channel from a storytelling standpoint to align with the brand strategy, brand pillars and seasonal priorities 
  • Connect all social media activities to support the overarching seasonal campaigns, as well as messaging key demographics in the most accurate channels 
  • Manage budgets accordingly for each social channel 
  • Collaborate with the editorial studio to develop and manage the social content calendar 
  • Brief for assets in line with the strategy for each social channel 
  • Track metrics, while monitoring and adjusting social channels content as needed 
  • Implement the social media content strategy and execute specific social media initiatives 
  • Analyze metrics and insights to develop relevant content, and identify issues and trends within conversations and for industry 
  • Approve changes to placement and strategies to optimize each social channel through review of KPIs and other measurements 
  • Stay up to date on the latest social media trends, social apps, ideas and campaigns that could enhance the community experiences and grow the Indigo audience 
  • Ensure the completion of deliverables and set/adhere to budgets, as applicable 
  • Act as the main point of contact for our Indigo, Chapters and Coles Retail social channels.Share best practices, assets, and assist in managing access to accounts 
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes 
  • Challenge the status quo and consistently identify areas for improvement, diagnose issues and working to resolve them 
  • Collaborate with others to drive flexible and iterative solutions, quickly and easily 
  • Encourage others to freely share their point of view and be open to feedback

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism (or equivalent work experience) 
  • A minimum of 5 years of social media and community building experience 
  • In-depth understanding of social media platforms (Instagram / Instagram Stories, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing a social channel from a brand perspective 
  • Minimum of three years of experience using software (Facebook, Twitter, Google Analytics etc.) to measure social media successes 
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience in creative copywriting with excellent proofreading skills 
  • Excellent writing, editing content for social media 
  • Social media savvy with a positive attitude and an ability to work under minimal supervision  
  • A champion for the brand with a positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and possesses strong time-management skills 
  • Work with multiple partners simultaneously to drive social at a local level and national level 
  • Ability to crisis manage in a variety of circumstances including social movements, customer service, censorship and brand value issues 
  • Background in marketing and/or PR is an asset 
  • Understanding of French language (written, oral) is an asset  
  • Candidate must be comfortable in fast-paced environment and able to be flexible with their schedule – ability to work evening and some weekends to monitor and engage with social media community. As well, one must attend Indigo events and live tweet and stream them on social media channels.
