Job Description


The .NET Architect, Indigo Digital is responsible for defining technology solutions engineered to meet the high-demands of one of Canada’s leading omni-channel e-Commerce providers. This role will require close collaboration with the Product Managers and business stakeholders to develop a robust roadmap to meet the needs of business and technology stakeholders from across the Indigo organization. 

As a senior member of the Indigo Digital Team, .NET Architect will play a key role in delivering top-class technology solutions successfully to contribute to the continued growth of Indigo’s “Phygital” business. 

  • Participates in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives 
  • Owns comprehensive knowledge of inner-workings and integration points of current Indigo Digital systems 
  • Works closely with Digital Product Owners and/or business partners to establish a plan for delivery of strategic initiatives 
  • Is responsible for delivering technical requirements, defining features and phases for projects ranging from “large & strategic” to “internal maintenance” 
  • Provides high-level sizing estimates of new development work 
  • Participates in capacity assessment and infrastructure planning 
  • Works with Architecture Team in defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision across the IT organization 
  • Is responsible for ensuring technical standards, extensibility, availability and performance are maintained through any enhancements or changes to Indigo Digital systems 
  • Implements prototypes, foundational code and establishes patterns which other members of the development team can follow throughout development 
  • Promotes software development best practices/standards, and usage of emerging technologies 
  • Teaches, monitors and helps improving effectiveness of implementation teams 
  • Is adept at presenting technical solutions to organizational leaders and implementation teams 
  • Acts as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes 
  • Proactively identifies and anticipates customer expectations and needs 
  • Challenges the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them 


  • Collaborates with stakeholders across the organization to deliver flexible and iterative solutions 
  • Is responsible for the continued strengthening of technical skills of the Indigo Digital Team 
  • Develops positive and productive peer relationships, both within Indigo and the broader software community

  • Minimum 10 years development experience with .NET and MS SQL Server stack 
  • 4+ years involvement with e-Commerce solutions or other high traffic/availability technologies 
  • A degree in Computer Science or related technical field 
  • Excellent knowledge of .NET Core and .NET 4.5 (and higher), including WebAPI, MVC – knowledge of WCF is a plus, but not required 
  • High proficiency in designing and implementing systems in Azure 
  • Strong knowledge of MSSQL including database design, T-SQL, query optimization and MS SQL tools 
  • Excellent knowledge of REST and RPC-based service design 
  • Professional experience with queue-based technologies and systems 
  • Passionate advocate of security best practices and micro-service architecture 
  • Experience in integrating with systems outside .NET ecosystem 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills 
  • Proven ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems by using extensive analytical skills 
  • Ability to prioritize, track and manage work independently to critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Working collaboratively with many different parts of the organization including various technical teams and business units 
  • Influencing product requirements and negotiating possible outcomes
